Indoor Cricket League Week 6

Due to a case of the "can't be arsed's" and rare complications of "I'll do it tomorrow's", this update on the Indoor League is a week late. Anyone who's anyone (who has an interest in the goings on of the Fitmen Indoor 6-a-side team) knows exactly what happened this evening (12th March). However, I shall briefly run through it in a mildly (if that) humourous manner.

The first game of the evening was between league leaders 5 Ways and league opposites, Harborne. It looks to me like Harborne made there way to 103-3 off their 10 overs, with one chap making 26 not out. Not bad but against 5 Ways, one thinks this is a recipe for la disaster. Yep, correct. 5 Ways took just 7 overs and 1 ball to chase down this score for the loss of 0 wickets. At least 2 people but I guess 3 retired on 25. A thorough beating if ever I saw one. And I've seen a few. And this most certainly was one of them.

The 9pm showdown this week was between the mighty Fitmen and Warwickshire County Cricket Club (Cricket Board)... From what I can remember, the Fitmen started fairly slowly, I think, memory's fading, then sped up a bit. The speeding up was in no small part down to Tuckerrr annihilating Ed McCabe over his head for four sixes in an over. That over was equal, in terms of thorough beatings, to the aforementioned 5 Ways beating of Harborne. Glorious stroke play, with ball after ball in exactly the same place. Cheers Ed. MVP points a plenty for Dr. Tucker.

Butcher made his way in the blink of a few eyes to 38* after initially retiring on 25. Can't really remember where the rest of the runs came from but with a score of 118-4 (seemed light after the quality batting - please read on) after 10 overs, the Fitmen felt a win was possible but not certain. So, would the Fitmen knock WCCCCB to the ground or would a fight be on the cards? Find out in the next few sentences.

WCB apparently took 21 off the first over according to the crichq website. I can't vouch for that, must have not been paying attention. Rich then took a sharp caught and bowled. There were a few lusty blows from the opposition but not many. However, the score was ticking over very nicely. A run out from Raj happened, then some more runs were scored, so on and so forth. WCB were always behind the rate but anything can happen in these games. Fortunately for the Fitmen, anything didn't happen, with a McFlurry of wickets at the end leaving WCB on 107 all out.

Cracking game and a good win for the Fitmen. It wasn't until later in the evening that it was discovered (thanks in no small part to Wikileaks, Kim Dotcom and Anonymous) that the Fitmen only faced 9 overs. No wonder we all though the score was 15-20 runs light.
