SCORECARD

Sunday 24th May 2026 away at Hockley Heath CC
The heat wave continues and so does the Fitmen’s good form, the only thing on a day like today. Win the toss, win the toss. Boom FM batting first.

Skipper caught early leaving a chance for brother’s Rowland to create a fine partnership of 70 odd runs between them at a run a ball, till they were both caught to not the greatest of deliveries. Wassem (33) and Raja (28) prevented another collapse after Timms and Palmer dismissals as the match kept swinging, unlike the ball.
Some turn on a dry pitch, batting conditions suited anyone that got in.

At lunch Fitmen a respectable 196 All Out

Fitmen take the field, with the mystery of the missing score book and WK gear, phone calls were made - ‘Timmsy have you got your kit’ of course… Did you ask him about the wicket keeper gear?’ Like a cub scout, Timms is always prepared, took position behind the stumps with equipment stored in his car and proudly gave away no byes.

Waseem opened the bowling; first ball edged to third man. Skipper neglected Waz’s idea of a fielding change after one ball that was edged! Raja and Waz bowled very tightly and the top 3 batters were very patient to wait for the fitmen change of bowlers. They unfortunately tucked into Palmer and Sharif like a fitman eating chips at Wavis.

The run rate sored and the match swung again. Oppo apparently only had 2/3 decent batters, so when the Sharif breakthrough came, the 3 crucial wickets assisted with a smart stumping turned the match.

Then some run out fun, batsmen collapsing, throws going adrift. Wickets kept tumbling, and it became a nice time to bowl. Nokia and Stevie picking up wickets and the pendulum swung back to fitmen. Then the last wicket wagged, could they do it?
Returning Wassem with the last wicket to secure the 14 run victory. Welcome and shout out to new fitmen James, made his debut despite having an x ray in the morning and cracking a rib after a cat incident

Still unbeaten on a Sunday.
