SCORECARD
Deja, Deja Vu
Due to the handy symmetry between The Fitmen's Performance and the subsequent fayre served up at Edgbaston 2 days later, we saved time and effort by simply lifting the match summary and changing some names............copyright acknowledged....tragically...
Old Mo (England) 185-7, Lapworth (India) 186-1.
Lapworth (India) won by 9 wickets
Set only 207 (186) to win, Ajinkya Rahane (Warwickshire nobby) made 106 (103 not out) and Shikhar Dhawan (Other geezer) 97 (70 odd) not out as India (Lapworth) won with 117 (121) balls to spare.
England (Fitmen) never recovered from slumping to 23-3 (xxx?) after being asked to bat.
Only Moeen Ali (Lord Howarth), who made 67 (76) from 52 (128) deliveries, showed any sort of fluency and England's (Fitmen's) 206 all out (185-7) always looked way short of being competitive.
This latest dismal display saw the majority of England's (the Fitmen's) batsmen incapable of scoring runs when faced with accurate, but not devastating, bowling, while the home attack was then decimated by Rahane (Nobby) and Dhawan (Geezer).
It was only the brilliance of Moeen (Turg Snr) that gave England any crumb of comfort, as the left (right)-hander's"confidence" and "aggression" provided his team-mates with a lesson in limited-overs run-scoring.
...............The England report did talk about Moeen using his feet and hitting down the ground, but we thought that a bit too far fetched...
