SCORECARD
Lost toss. Debutant "Khan" bowled superbly along with Pat Fay allowing only 21 off the first 10.
With 9 front line bowlers not available for the match, the cupboard was somewhat bare. Skipper A.Martin started well along with returnee to the fold Olly Jobes who bowled extremely well for his 2-38. At drinks the score was 66-0, which was a great effort. HOWEVER, 169 runs were then added in the last 20 overs. Skipper took the brunt of the bashing from their centurian returning his life time worst bowling figures of 2-60 (FFS).
Another debutant (thanks Tahir!), Asif looked good bowling with good variety. Bice dropped a difficult chance, steaming in from cow corner (of the centurian) who went on to bludgeon pretty much everyone before retiring on a 50 ball 100. Bal stemmed the flow for a couple of overs before also being assaulted. The finishing score of 235 looked daunting.
Cake fest at tea.
Facing 6 an over to a good all round bowling attack was going to be difficult. Howarth fell for 4, Tahir for 5 and then Asif got himself in and then got out. It was one of those days. Special mention goes to a good knock by Tucker (45 off 72) before being triggered LBW by Tahir.
Man of the match has to go to Olly though who followed up his excellent bowling and catch with a brilliant 44 off 48 including an array of shots, especially some sumptuous cover drives. Pat Fay also weighed in with a good tail wagging 16 not out accompanied by Tom Houlgate to ensure all overs were used. 195 was 40 short and it was back to the club house for the if's and but's discussion of dropped catches and missing bowlers.
