SCORECARD

Fitmen Win in the Evening Sunshine

It the Longest Day of Your Year today -(no, not the premier screening of Nokia 2nd Film about his Heroic 1 run off 33 balls), but as all good pagans know, the 21st June is the Summer Solstice and the Fitmen celebrated with a tight win over our new friends Selly Oak Hospital.

Toss won. Skipper Jonesy elected to bat.

The innings was top-heavy. Jonesy and Sam put on a 64-opening partnership. Jones playing second fiddle (25 off just over a run a ball) to S. Moore, finally finding the form of 2022 with a blistering 58 of 31.

The next 8 wickets fell for 65. Selly Oak fielded well, and caught everything.

Fitmen set a total of 130.

In the field, sun still up in the sky, fitmen were heroic to a man, seven bowlers were used, and everyone was involved. Selly Oak's number three hit a brisk 59 of very hockey-style shots, including breaking a tile on the clubhouse roof and one on the well on to fairway. Kudos!

Bowling-wise - A special shoutout to Dave Moore for impressively outsmarting the set batmen through his cunning and perseverance loopy stuff. Additionally, the report should commend Harry and Sharrif for their economical approach and Billy for delivering the most strikingly different spells imaginable.

We had a great time playing at Selly Oak Hospital and we have a return fixture in three weeks. It was a tight game played in good spirits, and I'm excited for more fixtures in the future.

Everyone enjoyed the late-night sun and stayed for drinks/beers.
